The path was trodden down so heavily… you were sure this was the way. Itʼs been a few hours since the last time you saw a trail marker, and the woods have gotten...so DARK...so COLD...

Suddenly the first of your group is snatched from the ground. A gurgled screaming noise retches through the trees, followed by a deafening silence. As the rest of you scatter with chests heaving the other members of your group are taken, one by one… It’s only you now. You’ve been running for what seems like hours… it’s gotten quiet…

What is this game?

The Dark is a solo tabletop roleplaying game about loss, isolation, and coming to terms with your mortality, and of those you love, in the face of an oppressive and preternatural darkness.

You play as the last of a group of five friends who set out on a trek across the Scandinavian wilderness for a reason you’ll determine. Each of your friends will have their own story develop throughout this game, despite the fact they’ve all been taken. With nothing on you but what little you’ve managed to keep from dropping, a dying flashlight, and a cell phone with no service, you must try to survive a night of intense darkness in a seemingly endless forest, hunted by something you cannot see.

How to Play:

This game uses a deck of standard playing cards with one Joker, a six sided dice {d6}, a four sided dice {d4}, 4 candles, 12 strips of paper large enough to jot small notes on, and paper and a pencil to write with. You may also go all in, and record your entries on your phone to listen back to later, instead of using a paper to journal your experience. That is up to you.

The Dark might consume you, but you’ll never be snuffed out without remembering those you love.
